PIC has recently undertaken a case involving a major property developer in Dubai. PIC members who have invested with this developer have reported disappointing service and a failure to deliver Units on time. PIC is currently looking into this case and is in the process of seeking redress for the investors.

Property Investors Consortium Ltd (PIC) which was set up in mid-March this year has won a major battle for a large number of British investors in Dubai. Following PIC’s representation to the Dubai Land Department (DLD), and the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) three weeks ago, the property developers in question have backed down on their excessive claims to investors. They have now started the handing over of the Units to investors at the initial agreed price despite the increase in size. Investors are generally very satisfied of our action and many have applied to join PIC. Ongoing discussions between PIC and RERA on other issues are expected to be taken up shortly with the developer. The investment funds involved exceed £35M. PIC which started its operations in London in early May this year is still working on its official launch. PIC Members are getting mobilized against a particular developer operating out of Dubai. PIC has convened an urgent meeting of its members on Sunday 8th May at London Waterloo. The purpose of the meeting is to review recent developments regarding the ‘virtual handing over of apartments’ at Hanover Square by the developer. PIC members will also discuss a recent communication that the developer's Legal Counsel has sent to some investors, regarded as highly intimidating and aimed at scaring members from giving Power of Attorney to PIC, to take the developer to Court. Members who have invested heavily in the developer's projects are determined to take away control from them, which they accuse of being in breach of its contractual obligations. The developer is also blamed for its arrogant and abusive customer relations management. The meeting agenda includes discussions on serious breaches of the 'Sales and Purchase Agreement', 'Power of Attorney: what it is and how it works' and 'Property Management Contract - What members should know'. It is expected that members will agree on important decisions about the next steps to be taken to deal with the developer's abusive actions.
